The cold weather is here again and winter is knocking on our door. It's cold and flu season. Read on for our unbeatable cold and flu remedy!

Honey, Ginger, Lemon and Cinnamon Tea

This tea is not only delicious, but each of the ingredients has been carefully selected to give you the immune boost and cold and flu-fighting power you need.

  • Honey soothes the throat and reduces coughing, which helps you get a better night's sleep (You need to be well rested to fight off that cold!). It has natural antiseptic and anti-microbial properties helping your body to fight off the cold or flu virus.
  • Lemon and honey in tea is a beautiful combination, but taste isn't the only reason to add it! Lemon juice also contains high amounts of vitamin C and antioxidants which will give your immune system the boost that it needs to help reduce the duration and severity of your cold.
  • Ginger is typically used to reduce nausea, although it's great with other cold symptoms too. It is naturally anti-inflammatory so it will help sooth your throat and reduce your cough. The ginger infused steam from this Tea will also help clear your sinuses.
  • Cinnamon is also anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and packed full of antioxidants. It will give you a powerful immune boost. The honey/cinnamon combination is also thought to be effective in preventing or managing heart disease, diabetes, acne, arthritis, digestive problems as well as assisting in wound healing and even preventing some cancers!

2 x Lemons

1/4 cup Sliced Ginger

1 cup Raw Honey (Don't use heat treated supermarket honey)

1/4 cup Ground Cinnamon

Slice the lemon and ginger (leave the skin on), and place them in alternating layers inside a 500ml jar.

Mix the cinnamon and honey into a paste and add to the jar on top of the lemon and ginger. Put cap on jar and place in the refrigerator for at least 12 hours. The mixture will keep in the fridge for 2-3 months.

How to use:

Take 1 tablespoon of the mix and add to a mug of warm water (Not too hot, we want to avoid heating the honey too much). Enjoy the tea and be sure to smell the steam it'll help to unblock your sinuses!

Rest up, stay warm, and make yourself a cup of this wonderful elixir. Remember only raw honey has all the amazing healing enzimes, so make sure you only purchase your honey directly from a beekeeper. We have honey for sale here.
